Meet the Creator of Sproutfit, Adjustable and Eco Friendly Childrenswear
Are you tired of buying a new set of clothes for your baby every time they have a growth spurt? Me too! Thankfully, there is a helpful solution.
Welcome to the next installment of the Community Over Competition series. In this addition we will be hearing from the lovely, Whitney Sokol. The owner and creator of Sproutfit. Finally, adjustable clothing that grows with your baby! This is not a sponsored post.
What inspired you to create a clothing line?
I’m an entrepreneur at heart! When I was 12 year old, I launched an organic and all-natural food distribution company that was on the forefront of bringing food solutions to my home state of Idaho. I’ve always been a problem-solver, so, as a brand new mom juggling a corporate sales and marketing job, it didn’t take long for me to start mom “hacking” life to save time, money and hassle. Then one day, sitting in my son’s closet, it hit me. We all know babies grow, why can’t their clothes grow with them?By the time Beckham was 12 months old, we had accumulated six 30-gallon totes of clothes he outgrew, or couldn’t even wear. When something finally fit him comfortably, a month later, he needed the next size. So, from frustration and mom guilt sprouted the idea for adjustable, eco-friendly childrenswear that grows with your baby.
What makes SproutFit different from other clothing lines?
SproutFit is adjustable with simplified sizing.
Your baby has a comfy, everyday fit — even through growth spurts! Instead of buying (and replacing) 7 or more sizes in baby’s first 24 months, we wanted to simplify to just TWO sizes (0-12m and 12-24m).
SproutFit is baby-friendly with complimenting colors.
Our fabrics’ benefits for baby are indisputable: ultra-soft, anti-microbial, hypoallergenic, moisture wicking, and thermo-regulating: cool in the summer, warm in the winter. All bodysuits, leggings and bandana bibs can be worn with any color. This makes for an easy mix-match-repeat for modern style and easy outfits.
SproutFit is responsibly made in the USA.
Modern-slavery is alive and well. Unfortunately, the garment industry is one of the worst offenders of human rights. Our factory pays year-round living wages to its employees and is proud to be preserving domestic factory work! Having USA-made clothing makes it easier to keep our eye on quality too, since the factory is just an hour plane trip away.
SproutFit is eco-friendly.
Our products are made from a bamboo jersey knit blend (and bibs are backed with a recycled polyester). Bamboo is one of the planet’s most organically renewable resources —no fertilizers, pesticides, or even replanting needed! And using recycled polyester, like our friends at Patagonia, reduces the necessity for petroleum-based products that end up in the landfill.
SproutFit is mom guilt-free.
Let’s be honest: less closet shuffling, fewer shopping trips, less clothing in our landfills… more time for the important things. That’s what we’re all about!
What advice do you have for moms who hope to start their own clothing line?
The fashion industry is packed, so make sure you have a value-add product that solves problems in a sustainable way. Sustainability is the most important part of our kids’ futures!
