How to Throw an Amazing and Stress Free Baby Shower

Baby showers are a wonderful time to honor the mom-to-be and celebrate the blessing of a new baby. Honestly, I was really nervous with the responsibility of throwing my very first baby shower. Much to my delight, the shower went great. If you are planning a baby shower in the near future, these 7 tips can help you to have a stress free event.
1. Delegate tasks.
At first I thought I could handle throwing the baby shower on my own. But thankfully, I realized that I needed to ask for help and delegate tasks. However, if I had not realized my need for help, this the shower would probably have turned out very differently. I highly recommend finding someone that can help you with the planning, prep and execution of the shower. This will make things much more relaxing for you.
2. Pick a theme that the mom-to-be loves.

We felt like a mountain & adventure theme matched both mom and dad’s love for travel and the outdoors. Plus it went along great with babies bedroom. We were able to find the perfect shower invitations on Minted.
3. Choose the right time.
Your options are endless when it comes to choosing the time of the baby shower. Consider what time will work best for the mom-to-be as well as her guests. Because we had a few people bringing little ones, we decided to go with 10 am, before the typical afternoon nap time. It is important to note that the time of day can also dictate your events menu.
4. Plan a menu you can handle.
Since it would be a bit late for breakfast but too early for lunch we decided to serve Brunch. Brunch is a nice option, pretty much anything can go with brunch.Because of the outdoorsy theme we decided to do granola with yogurt and honey as well as Cheerios for the kiddos. We also had two egg dishes, fruit, danishes and of course bacon! We served one of our favorite desserts, chocolate lovers rice crispy treats. These are a great allergy friendly option since they are gluten free, dairy free and vegan.
Try to plan a menu that can be prepared ahead of time. Most of the items on the menu were prepared the day before. This was a huge time saver the day of the shower. The egg dishes and the bacon were baked the morning of the shower. That way they could be served fresh and hot.
5. Keep the decorations manageable.
When it comes to decorating for a party the sky is the limit. Honestly, I am not a Pinteresty (is that a word?) creative mom. But I did create these printables that I am happy with.
Lucky for me, my sister in law is extremely creative and Pinteresty. We were able to use garlands that she made for past events. She also made an adorable mountain garland just for this shower. We used brown paper from IKEA to cover the tables and then wrote down the “menu” on the paper. We also found cute goodie bags for the favors and boxes to hold the game prizes at IKEA.
6. Play games that everyone can enjoy.
We kept the games simple. We had everyone fill out a special wishes for baby card. Then we played a game called “whats in my bag?”. We also played the classic don’t say “cute” game with clothes pins. All of these games are fun, simple and allowed people to participate as much or as little as they wanted. And most importantly, they were all approved by the mom-to-be. 
7. Make sure you and the mom-to-be are on the same page.
This last tip is vital! Make sure that you and the mom-to-be have a clear vision of what she would like to have happen at her baby shower. Every mom is different. For instance, some moms may want as many games as possible and others may prefer not to play any games at all. Whatever the case, it is your job as the host to make sure that she feels loved and supported.
If the mom-to-be wants something that you don’t think can be accomplished make sure you are honest with her. It is better to communicate this early on rather than let things go and end up with both of you disappointed. Some moms want to have a hand in all the planning and some moms are very hands off. As a host, it helps to be flexible and try your best be on the same wave length as the mom-to-be.
