Why 2016 was NOT My Worst Year Ever
2016 is getting a bad rep.
Have you noticed that people seem to be pretty upset about 2016. I am constantly seeing it labeled as “the worst year ever”. While for some this may indeed have been a horrible year, I feel like others are getting caught up in the negativity. As for myself, I like to focus on the positive.
Here are three years that I could have labeled my worst.
2013
Why it could have been the worst. My husband and I were in a serious car accident and I still have issues from one of my injuries to this day. What positives happened that year? We were forced to slow down. It helped us to realize that we were ready for a change of pace and would like to start having kids.
2014
Why it could have been the worst. My sweet daddy passed away from brain cancer. What positives happened that year? The months spent with my dad before he passed away are some of the most precious and joy filled memories of my life. This is also the year I became pregnant with my daughter.
2015
Why it could have been the worst. My husband was sick most of the year and almost died multiple times. What positives happened that year? It is the year that I gave birth to my beautiful daughter. She is one of my greatest blessings and I don’t know how we managed without her.
I could have called all three of these years my “worst”, but I choose to see the positives.
Now here we are, 2016. Honestly, for my family, it has been a great year!
This year my husband was healthy and alive!
As a family we decided to be more active again. One of the ways we have done this is try to go hiking every weekend. What do I mean by “again”. Before our car accident in 2013 we were extremely active! We went hiking, snowboarding, rock climbing and exploring regularly. Going on adventures and getting outside again after being forced to slow down the past few years feels amazing. An added bonus is having our daughter by our side!
We were able to go on many happy adventures.
As a family we were able to enjoy weekends at the Oregon Coast, Thanksgiving in Bend Oregon, and many beautiful Pacific Northwest hikes. But my favorite adventure of all was taking Genevieve to Oahu to meet her relatives for the first time. My daughter continues to grow and mature everyday. Watching her experience things has brought new meaning to my life.
And last but not least I started this blog!
Do I hope to make money with it someday? Sure. But the core reason I started this project was to be a part of a community. And I found one. I have met so many kind and beautiful souls through my blogging adventure and that alone has made it all worth it.I would like to thank all of my followers from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and email subscribers.
